2006 is the second year that SCAKC has participated in FilmFest Kansas City. Six of our City Committees will participate in the event: Seville Spain, Kurashiki Japan, Freetown Sierra Leone, Guadalajara Mexico, Ramla Israel, and Metz France.

Approximately 2,250 people attended FilmFest Kansas City in 2005. Last year nine SCAKC cities sponsored a film from their home country: Seville Spain, Kurashiki Japan, Freetown Sierra Leone, Tainan Taiwan, Guadalajara Mexico. Hannover Germany, Arusha Tanzania, Ramla Israel, and Metz France.

In 2006 the Mayor and City Council have been invited to participate along side their City Committee counterpart to keep the ties with the Council alive.

The September Concert Foundation was founded in 2002 with the mission to bring communities together, to reaffirm our hope for peace, to celebrate life and our universal humanity. We do this through The September Concert, a series of free concerts held annually on September 11th. The foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization.

In Kansas City, the "Old School Knights" performance band, sound system, and Promotional Newspapers will be coordinated and produced by Mark Valentine.  The concert will be held in conjunction with Film Fest Kansas City on September 11 from 4pm to 8pm at Screenland Theatre. Fox 4 is the media network partner for September Concert and Kansas City Parks and Rec. will be providing the staging for the concert.

The goal of the September Concert Foundation is to spread the message of peace through the magical power of music. Our concerts are held in all areas of our city, our nation, our world.

All concerts adhere to three basic principles:
Freedom: All venues and musicians are free to design and organize their own concerts.
Equality: All music and all musicians are treated equally, regardless of genre or background.
Accessibility: All music is offered free of charge.

Kansas City will host a concert on September 11th. Click here to learn more about the nationwide September Concert!
